Upsight
Before joining Shopify, I spent just over a year at a startup in marketing tech. Upsight is a user lifecycle management platform for mobile developers. The SaaS platform offers a comprehensive and robust set of tools to help collect data, analyse usage and create custom user experiences and marketing campaigns as well as monetize more effectively.
Brand & Marketing
After Upsight’s acquisition there were many components of the brand and marketing assets that needed to be consolidated, polished and streamlined. As the company’s sole designer I was responsible for managing all brand and marketing assets.
I provide design support for the Marketing, Sales, and Client Success teams. This includes the marketing website, event materials such as signage, sell sheets, ads, and swag, as well as recommendation docs, presentations, newsletters, blogs, whitepapers and social media.
Product Design
The Upsight platform is a highly technical product with many complex data driven functionalities. In my time there, much of the product’s design had been created by the product managers based on the technical and functional needs. Once I joined the team, when new features were requested I had the opportunity to explore the UX and contribute to the product design.
When a new feature was needed, I'd meet with the Head of Product to gather requirements, assets and timelines. From there, I'd brainstorm and sketch concepts, reviewing with Product along the way. I needed to stay within the existing brand and UI patterns but I'd make subtle updates to the design when I could.
